FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is a special concrete mix required?
No. The same concrete mix as other waterproof formwork systems is used. Maximum aggregate size should be 20 mm (3/4’’). Recommended slump is 15-18 cm (6-7’’). Concrete is poured with a pump, a bucket or a shovel.
Is vibration necessary?
No. Vibrating is generally not necessary. If needed, the task is simplified as the concrete can be seen inside the Coffor panel. Vibrating is done externally with a wooden hammer or internally with a needle.
Is Coffor reusable after concrete has been poured?
No. It is not reusable as it remains integrated in the wall after the concrete is poured.
Are special equipment or accessories necessary?
No. Coffor is simple to use and does not require heavy infrastructure or equipment. The only requirements are those available on all construction sites such as gloves, hammers, electric saws, pliers, plumblines, steel wire, tubes, light planks, ladders, etc.
How is electrical and plumbing inserted?
Does Coffor contribute to the resistance of the wall?
Can Coffor be reinforced using rebar if necessary?
Yes. Horizontal and vertical rebars can easily be inserted.
What is the height limitation of a Coffor wall?
There is no height limitation.
The limit is the same as for all reinforced concrete constructions.
Yes. Coffor is compatible with any type of floor: hollow coreslab, prefabricated slab, or cast in place full concrete slab.
Any interior finish is possible. Plastering is easily applied thanks to the herringbone mesh that provides an efficient bonding. Drywalls can be pasted as well as wood, tiles, plastic, marble, etc. If an interior thermal insulation is required it is directly applied to the Coffor wall.
Any exterior finish is possible. The characteristic of the finish, number of layers and thickness depends on local conditions. In aggressive areas like seashores, waterproofing may be necessary. An exterior insulation can be applied to the Coffor panel like on any other wall (bricks, concrete, etc).
Yes. Coffor can be combined with any construction system.
Yes. Concrete is poured with a tube in the water directly to the bottom of Coffor from the bottom-up. Space between the tube and concrete bed should not exceed 10cm (4").
